HEAVY rain – more than three times the daily average – left North-east homes and businesses flooded.

The downpour also made driving conditions treacherous and caused around six road accidents.

Grampian Fire and Rescue were called out to help with flooding incidents including the Somebody Cares charity shop and restaurant in Hazlehead. The charity, which is based at the site of the old Dobbies Garden centre, was submerged under 18 inches of water.
