Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway shine at The Dark Knight Rises premiere

STARS of the highly-anticipated The Dark Knight Rises made their entrance on a black carpet – rather than the customary red one – at the movie’s world premiere in New York.

Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, and Gary Oldman were among the celebrities who attended to see the final instalment of Christopher Nolan’s epic Batman trilogy.

The film is expected to give the smash hit Avengers Assemble a run for its money at the box office.

The second film in Nolan’s trilogy, The Dark Knight, smashed previous box office records in 2008 and won two Oscars.
