ALCOHOL has been fuelling a rise in teenage rape and sex attacks, according to a top policeman.
Grampian Police Deputy Chief Constable Colin Menzies said 178 reports of rape and intercourse with an older child, formerly statutory rape, were reported in the last year.
Mr Menzies said the link between booze and reported sex attacks against teenagers was his biggest concern from this year’s annual review, which saw violent and antisocial crime reach a nine-year low.
