THE prospect of a new SPL 2 was looming ever larger after Scottish Football League clubs opted to vote Rangers into Division Three.
The Ibrox team have admitted they face an uncertain future.
With the SPL deciding not to admit the Rangers newco into their set-up, chief executive Charles Green needed to find a home for his side next season.
Twenty-nine of the 30 SFL clubs accepted Rangers as an associate member of the Scottish Football League.
A total of 25 sides then voted in favour of placing the newco team into the bottom division.
But the saga could continue with the creation of a new second tier.
