A BENEFITS cheat who claimed thousands of pounds in disability payments while fit to work has been forced to pay back cash as part of a confiscation order.
Heather McKay, 58, is required to pay £7,000 as part of a proceeds of crime case which will boost communities in the North-east.
McKay previously pleaded guilty to falsely claiming disability living allowance, between May 4, 2006, and August 24, 2010, at her home at 5 Benview Terrace, Blackburn, when she was working as a care assistant. She was sentenced to 180 hours of community service after receiving £7,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.
