BUDGET supermarket chain Aldi has, for the second time in two months, dropped plans for a new North-east store.

Aldi announced the sale of its site at the former Kirkburn Mills in Peterhead.

The news follows the dumping of plans for a shop in Inverurie at the start of April.

But Aldi’s Scottish property director Graham Nicolson said: “We operate five stores in the North-east and are actively pursuing suitable sites in this region.”
