A TEENAGER saved his friend from bleeding to death after he severed an artery.
Andrew Morrice crashed through the window of a Royal Bank of Scotland branch on a night out.
His friend Jake McCallum acted quickly, applying pressure to his friend’s wrist, which was bleeding heavily, until an ambulance arrived.
The pair had been celebrating Jake’s 16th birthday when Andrew fell through the window on Main Street, Alford.
Doctors discovered he had severed not only an artery but 11 tendons and two major nerves.
Jake was awarded a lifesaving medal by Alford Academy and he is also to get the Royal Humane Society’s certificate of commendation.
