AN OIL worker caught with illegal electric stun weapons used them for protection while backpacking in Africa, where he lives, an Aberdeen court heard.
Nicholas Allan, 31, whose address was given in court as Tolkensrrwol, Saldanha, Western Cape, South Africa, was fined £600 at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
The prohibited weapons were found when police went to Allan’s Ellon home after reports of a suspected break-in on February 8.
