Greenfern Chinese Takeaway: Greenfern Road, Aberdeen

MY PAL Tracey recently became a first-time nana and was watching the Golden Child for the first time – and I couldn’t help but get in on the act.

I’d heard good things about the Greenfern Chinese, so I picked up the phone.

We were both ravenous, so we ordered starters of crispy seaweed (£2.80), and a quarter portion of aromatic crispy duck (£7.90) to share.

Tracey plumped for her firm favourite of beef curry (£4.30) and a portion of egg fried rice (£1.70), while I ordered the special chow mein with hot garlic sauce (£5.80).

The crispy seaweed lived up to its name, and was hoovered up in no time. The duck came with six pancakes and had plenty of cucumber and spring onion but we felt the portion of delicious meat could have been more generous.

Tracey’s beef curry had loads of meat and crunchy onion – just the way she likes it.

My special chow mein was smothered in garlicky sauce with plenty of noodles, beef, chicken and water chestnuts.

My only disappointment was finding only two prawns in my dish. However, the complimentary prawn crackers quickly put the smile back on my face.
