Aberdeen man took car for joyride wearing sunglasses and balaclava

AN ABERDEEN man has been jailed for stealing a car and driving it – while wearing a balaclava and sunglasses.

George Smart, 21, previously pleaded guilty to stealing the car and driving it in Southpark, Kiplaw and Hatton in Aberdeenshire, last month.

Smart, whose address was given in court papers as 101 Regent Walk, Aberdeen, was sentenced to six months by Sheriff Annella Cowan for stealing and driving the Volvo.

The court heard the car was recovered and was valued at £5,000.

He was also convicted of resetting a stolen satellite navigation system which was found in his property.
