Macallan whisky sells for £17,500

A BOTTLE of whisky has sold for £17,500 at a sale in Edinburgh.

The Macallan 50 year old bottle from the Moray distillery was sold at Bonhams on Wednesday.

Estimated at between £10,000 and £12,000, the bottle came in its own wooden presentation case.

The previous highest price for The Macallan 50 year old was £13,500.
