A TRADE union leader today warned communication needs to be better to stop panic after the latest alert on a helicopter.
The CHC-operated Super Puma with 20 people on board was travelling between the Stena Spey rig and Aberdeen yesterday when a temperature warning light came on.
A coastguard helicopter escorted the aircraft to Sumburgh in Shetland where it landed safety.
Jake Molloy, regional organiser for the RMT union, said: “With technical faults like this, it’s about sharing information, lessons learned and building confidence.”
A CHC spokeswoman said the firm takes a precautionary approach with incidents.
