A WOMAN today admitted causing the death of her friend in a road crash.

Megan Mitchell, whose address was given in court papers as Denhead Croft, Fordoun, pleaded guilty to careless driving causing a crash which saw her friend Leanne Slesser die.

At Aberdeen Sheriff Court the 20-year-old admitted driving at excessive speed for the road layout and conditions.

Miss Slesser, 21, who was a passenger in her car, died as a result of the injuries she suffered in the August 2010 crash on the A937 Marykirk to Laurencekirk road.

Mitchell will be sentenced on July 12 after Sheriff Graeme Napier ordered background reports.
