ANNA Friel is to return to the West End stage to star in Chekhov classic Uncle Vanya.

The former Brookside star won acclaim for her role as Holly Golightly in a revival of Breakfast At Tiffany’s nearly three years ago.

She will star alongside Ken Stott – soon to star in the movie of The Hobbit – and Samuel West.

The play opens at London’s Vaudeville Theatre from November 2.

Anna is also known for her roles in Pushing Daisies and ITV’s Without You.

Samuel West, who is filming ITV drama series Mr Selfridge, landed a best actor Olivier nomination for his role in Enron.
