Blue Moon: Holburn Street, Aberdeen

WITH my summer break still a few weeks off, I thought it was only right to treat myself before the diet kicks in.

My boyfriend was picking the takeaway, so Indian it was. And what better excuse was there to try a takeaway I pass on a regular basis but have never used.

Alasdair selected the Goan style chilli tiger prawns (£5.50) to start, which were mild with hints of coconut.

I stayed well away from the prawns, and went for muglai chicken (£7.45) and pilau rice (£2.20).

A mild korma, it was creamy and sweet, and I only managed to finish half as it was so filling.

With peshwari naan (£2.60) and some mango chutney on the side and popadoms, I was in heaven.

The peshwari was sweet, with a hint of garlic, while the popadums added the perfect savoury alternative.

Alasdair settled for the chicken jaipuri (£8.10) and boiled rice which was spicy and had a nice balance of meat and vegetables. The chilli added the perfect twist of spice.

The Blue Moon was the perfect summer evening treat, that I’ll definitely be visiting again – post holiday.
