ON THE way back home after enjoying a day in the sunshine, lethargy got the better of us and we decided to give cooking a miss.
Since barbecues are de rigueur on sunny days, we both decided to try out the Cults Hotel’s burger offerings.
Feeling a bit piggy, I up-sized and ordered the “mighty” burger with blue cheese and bacon.
For £12.50 I got two big burgers and a piece of bacon in a soft bun.
Despite the hefty portion – it was so large I had to use a knife and fork – I managed to eat it all, with the melty blue cheese counteracting the slightly dry burgers.
My wife was intrigued to try the home-made chicken burger – which would surely be the Rolls Royce of chicken burgers given the £12.95 price tag.
What she got was two chargrilled chicken fillets in a bun – not technically a burger, as the menu described, but cooked nicely all the same.
She would have liked a bit more bang for her buck though – aside from the side salad and chips (both tasty enough), it was just two pieces of chicken in a bun.
With drinks (a pint and a soda and lime) the bill was £31.05.
