Springroll: Glenbervie Road, Aberdeen

WITH a weekend spent at work, I thought it was time to reward myself.
Having tried many Chinese takeaways in Aberdeen, I managed to find just one I had never been to before.
I decided to pit the aptly named Springroll against my regular favourite.
I wanted to see if their shredded chilli chicken was as good as my usual, so I invited a friend to help me put it to the taste bud test.
There was just a short wait for our food and we were soon tucking into vegetable spring rolls (£2.70). Crispy and melt in the mouth, they were packed full of taste.
But we didn’t stop there, we also munched our way through salt and pepper shredded chicken (£4.30) – little bits of heaven, they were crispy and moreish.
My shredded chilli chicken (£4.30) had just the right balance of spice, not too hot, and sweetness. Complemented by some fried rice (£3.70 for two) it hit the spot.
My friend tried the duck in satay sauce (£4.80) with egg fried rice.
It was rich and filling, and the portion quickly disappeared.
We finished with banana fritters (£1.70) and a movie – just what I needed after a busy week.
