YOU know how it is when a friend you haven’t seen in ages drops by.
You spend hours catching up and then, before you know it, it’s dinnertime.
Taking a break from nattering we reached for the Piccolo Pizza menu and placed an order which arrived on time ... made more attractive by a buy- one-get-one-free pizza deal.
We tucked into our shared starter of garlic bread with cheese (£4), which we all agreed was tasty, but lacked a kick from the pungent herb.
The boys being card-carrying carnivores opted for the deep pan Mighty Meat and the crispy Chicago.
Kyle’s Mighty Meat (£15) was generously laden with pepperoni, ham, American sausage, spicy beef and bacon.
He noted the pizza wasn’t greasy like other takeaways he had tried and his only complaint was the portion was too much even for his appetite.
Hubby soon devoured all of his crispy Chicago (free) which was covered with beef, smoked sausage and salami.
However, the crispy base failed to live up to expectations and was a little doughy.
My Wild Mushroom pizza (£10.80) had a rich tomato sauce with lots of cheese, but could have done with more herbs.
We were left stuffed and wouldn’t have managed a fourth (free) pizza.
