New waxwork figure of Queen to mark Jubilee

Madame Tussauds unveils new model of monarch

A NEW waxwork figure of the Queen has been created to mark the monarch’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Madame Tussauds figure is the 23rd mannequin of the Queen to be made by the famous London attraction.

The £150,000 model was created using official Diamond Jubilee photographs and measurements taken of the Queen when a 2001 figure was made of the monarch.

Angela Kelly, the Queen’s dresser and personal assistant, created the original state dress made of white silk, satin and lace with silver-coloured sequins and advised the Madame Tussauds team who made a replica of the gown.

A Madame Tussauds spokeswoman said: “This is a warmer, softer Queen, the last time we made a model of the Queen was in 2001, so this is a new version.”
