Dubai sex-case teacher faces wait over appeal

A NORTH-EAST teacher jailed in Dubai for a sex offence will have to wait for more than a month before his appeal will be heard.

Paul Brandt was sentenced to three years for having sex with another man in a public place.

Mr Brandt, 29, who is being held at the Central Prison at Al Aweer, now hopes to have the length of his sentence reduced.

A spokesman for Mr Brandt, who is from Findochty, near Buckie, said: “Paul has already lodged his appeal. He has been given a first court date of June 5, but we have asked his lawyer to request that it be sooner.”
