Chop Chop Express: Elphinstone Road, Port Elphinstone, Inverurie
CAR trouble, alarm clock malfunction ... bad things are supposed to come in threes.
After a run of misfortune, fortunately Chop Chop Express in Inverurie proved to be more a case of third time lucky.
Word of mouth has been this takeaway’s best friend, with plenty of recommendations.
With a menu spilling over with tempting offerings, choosing took longer than it did for the incredibly speedy kitchen to rustle up our order.
My chilli shredded beef (£4.30) was fantastic, with tender strips coated in a fabulously sticky and zingy coating.
My wife’s sweet and sour chicken (£3.90) was delicious too, with tender battered pieces in a sauce that I’m told is right up there with the best ... okay, I cheated a bit – I know it is. It’s good to share, after all.
Even with side orders of egg fried rice (£2.20) and fried noodles with beansprouts (£2.50), as well as a generous portion of mushrooms in a spicy garlic sauce (£2.80) and tasty sesame prawn toast (£3.60), the bill was still less than £20.
Great food, great value and a very welcome lucky find.
