Coveted gong for superstar Tom Cruise

SUPERSTAR Tom Cruise is to become only the fourth person in history to receive a prestigious entertainment gong.

The Mission Impossible star will be presented with the Entertainment Icon Award from the Friars Foundation.

The award has previously only been given to Tinseltown legends Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra.

Friars Club Abbot Jerry Lewis said Tom will join an “elite group” of people “whose work has made a global impact on our industry and changed the very face of cinema”.

Tom will be given the gong at a special gala in New York in June.
