A SURVEY of Aberdeen’s Rubislaw Quarry – one of Europe’s largest man-made holes – was due to get under way today.
A 30ft survey boat was craned into the water-filled quarry today.
A 3D scan should reveal the quarry’s dimensions and the volume of water held in the 500ft deep hole.
Owners Hugh Black and Sandy Whyte hope a masterplan can be developed that will open up access to the public and preserve Rubislaw Quarry’s heritage.
