City Garden Project wins referendum with 4,126 majority

A PROPOSAL to give Aberdeen a new heart was this afternoon given the backing of the people of the city.
The City Garden Project won a majority vote in a historic referendum that gave citizens the choice of keeping Union Terrace Gardens.
The £140 million scheme – which will bridge the space above the Denburn Valley – won 52% of the vote.
A total of 86,568 Aberdonians took part in the referendum, with 45,301 votes going to City Garden and 41,175 to UTG. A total of 92 votes were spoils.
