Bon East: Clifton Road, Aberdeen

AFTER nearly five hours on the road, cooking was the last thing on my mind.
The long journey back north from the Dons Scottish Cup replay in Dumfries had left me famished. But the thought of the cooker held as much appeal as extra time at Queen of the South. So a phone call to Bon East was in order.
I plumped for the vegetable curry (£4), which was packed with red and green peppers. There were also large pieces of cauliflower and onions – cooked to perfection. The rich, spicy sauce packed a punch but was not too overwhelming.
My girlfriend went for the chicken curry (£5), which came in a darker sauce to the vegetable option. The two portions of accompanying boiled rice (£2 each) were light and fluffy.
I was so hungry I also ordered a portion of chips (£1.80). With an additional delivery charge of £2, the bill came to £16.80. It was also delivered swiftly, which pleased my rumbling belly.
A top-class carry-out meal with restaurant-quality fare. We’ll be back for more.
