Video: Mum and baby rescued after falling into freezing sea

THE moment a mother and baby plunged into the icy sea from a causeway has been captured on video.

And lifeboatmen said the incident at Cramond on the Firth of Forth came close to tragedy.

Video footage shows the mother lose her footing and pull the buggy into water when walking over the narrow causeway linking Cramond Island to the mainland.

The pair were rescued by a woman who appeared to have been with them.

Tom Robertson, the RNLI’s lifeboat operations manager for South Queensferry, said: “This incident certainly could have been tragic if someone hadn’t managed to get to the child quickly.”
