A “GIANT” of the deep has been discovered by a team led by an Aberdeen scientist.
The sea creature may measure just 28 centimetres – just less than 1ft – but it is still nearly 10 times as big as a normal amphipod.
The crustacean – hailed as a “supergiant” – was found four miles down in water north of New Zealand, during an expedition to the Kermadec Trench involving the University of Aberdeen and deep sea scientists from New Zealand.
