Garlogie Inn: Westhill

WITH such famous former diners as Liam Gallagher and Kirstie and Phil from the property programmes, it was about time the Groundwaters graced the Garlogie with our presence once more.
Not having been for a few years, it was fine to see the country pub has lost none of its character and charm.
I always feel in a place like this that I should have some hearty home-made soup. So I did.
The chicken broth (£3.50) came with bread (which my son quickly devoured) and was fine and thick and packed full of veg.
I used to love lasagne when I was a lad, but for some reason we don’t have it it at home that often.
The £7.50 dish was a lovely large portion with plenty of gooey cheese melted on top.
The meat was perfect and the pasta was cooked just right. The wife went for a trusty favourite in haddock and chips (£7.65) – and it went down a treat. The batter was nice and crispy, with the fish lovely and tender but perhaps there could have been a little more salad.
We definitely won’t leave it so long next time.
