Sanremo: Union Grove, Aberdeen

AT THIS time of year I wave goodbye to my Saturday night social life. With the start of Strictly and X Factor’s live shows, the only time I intended leaving the telly was to answer the door to the Sanremo delivery man.
He brought enough food to last the duration of the entertainment, two small meals (£10.90) – a ten inch create-your-own pizza, a side dish and a 500ml bottle of juice each. My other half and I shared our sides (chicken strips and onion rings) and both agreed a dip or some seasoning would have been welcome.
But that was made up for in abundance by our delicious pizzas.
Mine was loaded with some of the freshest tomato sauce I’ve ever tasted and piled with doner meat and chilli beef – with a definite kick – as well as enough fresh garlic to ward off an army of vampires.
The barbecue sauce on Ewan’s pizza was slightly runny, but had a sweet tang that really set off the flavour of the meatballs. His final topping was barbecue chicken – “some of the finest chicken I’ve ever had on a pizza”. I’m not sure what we enjoyed more, the food or the telly.
