Ma Cameron’s: Little Belmont Street, Aberdeen

WHEN I first moved to Aberdeen, Ma Cameron’s was one of the first pubs my mates took me to.
I’ve been countless times since then, but never eaten there. So, joined by a mate, I thought it was time to give it a try.
I started with the crispy-coated chicken breast (£4.69) – moist, tender fillets in breadcrumbs. With a rich, tangy salsa and balsamic-drizzled rocket, it was delicious.
My mate’s breaded Scottish haggis fritters (£4.69) – bite-sized pieces of haggis in crisp breadcrumbs – were nicely peppery, though the whisky sauce was a bit bland.
I love a good steak and the 8oz rump I ordered (£9.99) for a main – juicy and tender, served with chips – ticked all the boxes.
My mate gamely tackled his huge New York BBQ chicken burger (£9.79). Filled with bacon and onion rings, he enjoyed it but said it was overloaded with sweet barbecue sauce. With a few drinks, and a 25%-off meals before 4pm deal, the bill came to £26.39. With great grub and offers like that, I’ll probably be heading back to Ma’s pretty soon ... for more than just a pint.
