CHIPPER suppers are a guilty pleasure of mine ... and all the better for sharing them with good friends.
So for a get together with pals, a trip to Woodend Fast Food was a must.
I went for my usual white pudding supper (£3.20) and was rewarded with a tasty treat that was packed flavour and not grease. Very more-ish.
My chum Donna opted for scampi (£3) and a pineapple ring (£2).
She was delighted by the 10 huge chunks, wrapped in a batter that had just the right crunch to complement the sweet and tender seafood inside.
It made up for the batter on her pineapple being a bit on the soggy side.
Margaret, meanwhile, went for the traditional haddock fish supper (£3.70).
She found the large piece of white fish had that fresh-from-the-sea taste that can often be missing.
Cooked to perfection it flaked perfectly and was melt-in-the-mouth fine.
Of course, the benchmark of any chipper is its, well, chips.
These were fresh and chunky but could have been crisper. We put that down to a battle through the rush hour delaying us from getting stuck into the food.
For a total of £12.75 and we all agreed we'd happily go back again.
