Revolution: 25 Belmont Street, Aberdeen

WE THOUGHT it was the sunny weather that had attracted such a big crowd to Revolution’s beer garden, until my better half and I discovered the pub had a two-for-one burger deal on offer.

And it would have been silly to pass up such this good deal – offered on Mondays – so we decided to share the Moroccan bean burger (£7.95) and the blackened chicken burger (£7.95) as well as the bread, hummus and sunblushed tomatoes (£3.50), plus a corn on the cob (£2). Both burgers came with extremely chunky chips, that would put most chippers to shame, along with a little portion of coleslaw.

The warmth of the Moroccan spices along with the spicy fruit chutney made this bean burger a lot tastier than most I’ve tried, while the thin slab of breast meat in the chicken burger was smothered in herbs with rosemary dominating the taste.

It had a gentle warmth and tasted fresh and healthy – two words not often associated with pub burgers.

Our side orders were all generous portions packed with flavour.
