China Town: 11 Dee Street, Aberdeen

I DON’T understand why people need excuses to have takeaways – surely sometimes they’re just a good thing in and of themselves?
So, for no good reason at all, we set off to China Town.
Things got off to a good start with crispy, light shredded chilli chicken strips (£3.50), with a smoky but sharp chilli dipping sauce.
I thought the chilli garlic spare ribs (£4) were far too salty, but my girlfriend disagreed and (as I’ve painfully come to realise) she’s usually right.
My Szechuan beef’s (£5) slightly watery gravy packed a deep, meaty punch but not much of the promised heat.
The meal got back on-course with a sweet – and surprisingly not sickly – rainbow shredded chilli chicken (£5) in a spicy sauce, which was just delicious.
And the meal was rounded off with some absolutely perfect plain fried noodles (£2).
Despite the minor criticisms, I stick by the fact no one needs an excuse to enjoy a take away, especially from China Town.
