MY BETTER half has a new job in the West End and I thought she deserved a treat after her first shift.

Having heard a lot about Amicus Apple, we decided to check it out.

We shared a selection of breads with olive oil and vinegar (£2.95), a delicious and filling start on the comfy sofa.

Katy then had calamari with lemon and black pepper mayonnaise (£3.95) on the side.

The batter was a little greasy for her taste, however, the tangy mayonnaise and succulent calamari proved a winner.

Next she picked a Portobello mushroom and brie open sandwich (£5.95) for her main. The chips had the perfect crunch while the incredibly creamy brie complemented the perfectly-cooked large mushrooms.

I chose the chicken breast wrapped in Parma ham stuffed with mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes and basil (£9.95) and was delighted with the cheese spilling out of the chicken on to the butternut squash, green bean and pine nut salad.

Stuffed, I polished off the last of my Zaparito Malbec (£4.30) and happily paid the£27.10 bill.
