The Brig O’ Don: 739 King Street, Aberdeen

SUNDAY night television ... I hate it. As an escape route from the reality-show nightmare I suggested a meal out.
The Brig O’ Don, with its friendly, lively atmosphere, was the eatery of choice.
As we were ushered to our tables I was in for a shock – a television at the end of every table.
Thankfully the hefty menu was big enough to blank out some nonsense about Dancing on Ice.
My friend opted for the steak pie (£7.99) which arrived packed full of succulent chunks of prime British beef.
Marinated in Belhaven beer, it was topped with golden puff pastry.
The steak pie, which arrived with seasonal vegetables and creamy mash, was quickly polished off.
I went for the vegetable lasagne (£7.99), accompanied with garlic bread and a large, fresh salad.
The dish was packed with vegetables in a rich, creamy sauce. Topped with shaved parmesan, it was delicious.
We also ordered onion rings (£2.19) and potato wedges (£2.79) as a side order. And for dessert we shared a Swiss milk chocolate cheesecake (£4.29) that was a delicious end to the evening.
