Bhan Thai: Rose Street, Aberdeen

Published: 04/02/2011

IT is often said that good things come to those who wait.

That theory was put to the test when a mix up over my order meant I had to sit and twiddle my thumbs for an extra 20 minutes in the Bhan Thai restaurant and takeaway in Rose Street, Aberdeen.

But the mild irritation at being held up on a busy Saturday night quickly evaporated when I finally got home and started tucking into the tasty grub.

My starter of chicken satay skewers (£4.10) set things up nicely with tender meat that was coated in a delicious marinade

.

And our other starter of spring rolls (£4.10) got two thumbs up from my girlfriend who was impressed with the generously packed filling.

On to the mains, and a Thai restaurant should live or die by its green curry.

And the Bhan Thai is definitely alive and kicking with its scrumptious version (£5) that had just the right level of fiery chilli heat.

My other half's silence as she devoured her main of sweet and sour chicken with crunchy vegetables (£5) spoke volumes for the quality of the food, although she would have liked the vegetables to be a little more crunchy.

With two sides of rice bringing the total bill to £22.50, the Bhan Thai was definitely worth the wait.
