IT TAKES a lot to impress my kids, but a waiter who takes orders without writing anything down had them fascinated.
Our very attentive host at Table Table was scrutinised closely to check he was delivering the correct meals – and he never faltered.
For starters, they tucked into doughballs (£2.99) with flavoursome dips and breaded camembert (£3.99), which was crispy but melting inside.
Dad had Quorn chilli, with basmati and sour cream, which he said was quietly spicy, and daughter had haddock with chips, both meals part of the two for £10 early-bird deal.
I enjoyed a very fresh grilled chicken Caesar salad, (£7.99), which featured crunchy leaves, cheese shavings and peppery dressing, while the boy made quick work of chicken nuggets, chips and peas, as part of a £4.99 children’s menu.
The young ones then had a tangy and tasty lemon tart with cream, £3.99, from a good range of desserts, and ice cream and strawberry sauce from the kids’ choices. Our only quibble was the meals were slightly tardy in appearing from a busy kitchen.
With extra fries and drinks, our bill came to just over £47 – pretty decent for a good feed for four.
