Mirchi Indian Cuisine: The Square, Mintlaw

I NEEDED a good Indian meal to renew my faith in takeaway food.

Having had to endure a shoddy dinner from another North-east restaurant recently I was in a sceptical mood.

Will I have to endure another night of dashed tastebud dreams, I wondered.

Thankfully the friendly chaps at Mirchi in Mintlaw know what they’re doing.

The mixed pakoras I ordered for a starter were scrumptous.

The mangorian, a dish flavoured with mango chutney and honey, was a delectable main.

I was so thankful that the curry was served with natural tasting ingredients and sauce.

The lamb rogan josh, which also tasted fresh and genuine, was a medium hot adventure of the taste senses and I would highly recommend giving it a try too.

The mince and veg samosas were sadly not my cup of tea.

But this one minor blip could not tarnish the quality of this professional Indian takeaway.

The overall cost, including two portions of rice, was pretty reasonable at £23.90.

It was certainly worth every penny to have my faith in takeaway food restored.
