IT DOESN’T take long at all for the novelty of snow to wear off. Forget beautiful winter wonderlands, I just want dry feet and hands that aren’t numb.

So, after another day of trudging through the snow, the welcoming glow of the Black Dog was too good an offer to turn down on a cold winter’s evening.

I needed warmed up and the hearty food on offer was the perfect solution.

A warm, steaming mug of coffee was first up to take the chill off, while my pal opted for tea.

I chose the veggie burger (£3.49) which came with a huge side order of chips.

Sometimes the veggie choice can be bland, but certainly not this one.

It was packed full of taste and was quickly polished off.

My friend decided to go for the fish and chips (£3.99). Freshly fried and coated in golden batter, the succulent white meat melted in her mouth.

Accompanied with peas, chips and a wedge of lemon, it got the thumbs-up.

After this hearty meal, we were ready to face the Arctic conditions outside.
