HAVING just splashed the cash on a couple of wedding rings and taking another step closer to signing our lives away, I think the boss and I were both in need of some comfort food.
However, the fact that there was football on as well had absolutely nothing to do with my choosing to treat the future missus to a pub lunch!
Getting right in among the main courses, I went for a trusty old favourite – the Enigma burger (£6.95).
A lovely 6oz piece of juicy meat topped with cheese and smoky bacon and a piping hot portion of chips, it was the perfect way to ring in a new chapter of my life (geddit?).
Mrs G-to-be opted for the vegetarian burger (£6.50), which was packed full of flavoursome vegetables with a really crunchy texture
Both meals were accompanied by salad and a nice, fresh balsamic dressing which added to the flavour.
With it being a Saturday lunchtime, the bar was understandably busy, but the slightly abrupt service (getting asked if we were ready to order twice in two minutes by the same person was a bit much) was the only thing that let a fine meal down.
