‘Shocked’ businessman seeking legal advice

AN ABERDEEN businessman is seeking legal advice after being suspended from a top job with an offshore company.
Calum Melville was removed from duties as bosses launched a probe into business practices at Cosalt’s offshore division in Aberdeen.
Mr Melville denied speculation he was planning to set up a rival firm.
Three years ago Mr Melville and his brother Stuart – who has also been suspended by Cosalt – sold their company GTC in a takeover worth an estimated £30 million.
Mr Melville has now quit as director with the safety equipment group, which employs 240 people in Aberdeen.
He said: “It is with regret that I have formally tendered my resignation from Cosalt.
“Having raised several serious concerns about the running of the business with the chief executive officer recently, I was totally shocked that their response was to suspend me on wholly unfounded allegations.”
A spokeswoman for Grimsby-based Cosalt said: “Cosalt is carrying out an internal review of the operating practices of the group’s business in Aberdeen at present.”
