Paton knocked back bid from Morton

Boss may look at him again at Christmas

Published: 01/09/2010

MORTON today confirmed they failed with a bid to get Aberdeen FC striker Michael Paton on loan before the transfer window closed.

Morton boss Allan Moore said: “I tried to get Paton in but it has not happened.

“I was told the boy doesn’t want to go out on loan. One of the biggest factors was that he’s a Greenock boy.

“If he’s not signed for anyone, then we might look at him again at Christmas time.”

Paton, 20, also rejected the chance to go on loan to Dundee until January.

But the Dons could still send Paton out on an emergency loan to another club, despite the fact the transfer window closed at midnight.

Aberdeen are also still attempting to complete the signing of former Charlton Athletic left-back Grant Basey, who is a free agent.

I don;t know why we trying to get this lad out the door. Maguire ought to have been first.
