Aberdeen councillor and wife accused of embezzling money

A SENIOR Aberdeen councillor and his wife have been charged with being involved in a cash swindle over an 11-year-period.
Aberdeen councillor Scott Cassie and his wife Moira, a former community leader in Garthdee, have appeared in court accused of embezzling money.
Cllr Cassie, 60, who represents the Airyhall and Garthdee areas, and Mrs Cassie, 58, appeared at a brief private hearing at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
Neither made any plea to the charges and they were both released on bail.
The couple appeared in court following a lengthy police investigation into allegations of financial mismanagement at Garthdee Community Council.
