VILLAGERS forced to flee after a series of volcanic eruptions in Indonesia returned to their homes today.
Mount Sinabung, an 8,000ft volcano on the island of Sumatra, erupted for the first time in 400 years, forcing the evacuation of more than 30,000 people.
The initial volcanic eruption was followed by a more powerful blast yesterday. Two people were said to have died during the disaster on the Indonesia island of Sumatra.
Officials said they had not been monitoring the Mount Sinabung volcano in Sumatra because it had been inactive for so long.
On returning to his home near the Indonesian volcano, 48-year-old farmer Betta Tarigan said: “There’s not going to be a harvest this year.”
