THE 169th Lonach Gathering was hailed a success as bad weather failed to dampen spirits.
Top Scots comic Billy Connolly turned out with family and friends to watch the annual games, which drew about 8,000 enthusiastic visitors.
And Jennifer Stewart, chief executive and secretary of the Lonach Gathering, said she was delighted with how it went.
She said: “It went really well considering the weather.
“Billy Connolly and his wife Pamela were there with family.
“Our oldest marcher this year was Eddie Stuart at 74.
“It was a traditional Lonach Gathering, the same as always. I was really pleased with it and delighted everything went smoothly.
“We’re starting to plan already for 2011, which will be the 170th Lonach Gathering.
“We will probably make that extra special so we’ll possibly have something extra.”
