BP slammed over unclear answers on oil rig safety
Spill probe considers who was in charge

FRUSTRATED Gulf oil spill investigators in the US have lashed out at BP.
The row erupted over oil firm BP’s refusal to explain who was in charge of safety at the Deepwater Horizon rig.
“Everybody in charge, nobody in charge,” said Coast Guard Captain Hung Nguyen, after the co-chairman of the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster investigation board failed to receive an answer at a hearing in Houston.
Kent Wells, BP’s senior vice president, said there was a company-wide safety culture in which “everyone is supposed to feel responsible”.
But other BP staff told the hearing of a major managerial shake-up just days before the blast led to confusion at the oil rig.
