Rosyth passenger ferry to be scrapped

Link between Scotland and Belgium to end

THE Rosyth to Zeebrugge passenger ferry is to be scrapped, the operator said today.

The DFDS Seaways service between Rosyth and Belgium will cease by the end of the year.

DFDS said the Rosyth to Zeebrugge route was not profitable enough and had suffered significant losses, despite a busy summer period.

DFDS Group vice president Andreas Teschl said: “We can guarantee that the service will continue to provide a passenger service up to and including December 15 at least.”

He said the company intended to enhance the freight-only service on the route.
