Captain Scott faces injury blow

CELTIC skipper Scott Brown could miss the start of the season because of an ankle injury.

It is reported the midfielder is definitely out of the Hoops’ friendly against English side Blackburn this weekend.

Brown is also likely to be sidelined for Scotland’s game in Sweden on Wednesday.

The former Hibs player then faces a race against time to be fit for Celtic’s SPL opener at Inverness a week tomorrow.

Brown limped out of his side’s 2-1 win against Braga on Wednesday, which saw the Glasgow club eliminated from the Champions League.

The 25-year-old has suffered problems with the same ankle before and required two operations on it last season.

It is reported Brown only played against Braga after receiving a painkilling injection.

He then had treatment on the injury at Celtic’s Lennoxtown base yesterday.
