FORMER Aberdeen FC player Jamie McAllister has tipped Paul Hartley to be a big hit at Pittodrie.

The former Pittodrie full-back played alongside Hartley last season for the Robins and insisted the experienced midfielder was the club’s best player in the Championship.

Hartley made the decision to leave Ashton Gate after becoming homesick for Scotland and McAllister claimed their loss will be Aberdeen’s gain.

McAllister said: “I definitely feel he can still do a job in the SPL. The players are sorry to see him go because he was probably one of our best players last year at Bristol City.

“He was a great player for us and I’m sure he has loads to offer at Aberdeen.”
