ABERDEEN FC boss Mark McGhee today blasted Port Vale’s Anthony Griffith for his lunging tackle on Fraser Fyvie during their 1-0 friendly victory over the English League Two side.

Fyvie required lengthy treatment after Griffith lunged high on him in the 69th minute of the match.

McGhee, who was spoken to by the referee for protesting too robustly about the challenge, admitted he feared the worst when Fyvie went down injured.

“I was worried for Fraser because it was a very bad challenge,” said McGhee.

“Fraser went in hard as well, but what the Port Vale lad did was naughty, to put it mildly.”
